numerical forecasting,
a method of weather forecasting in which an electronic computer is fed numerical data on the current weather situation to compute the conditions likely to prevail in a short period of time. It then uses the resulting prediction as the basis for computing the weather at the end of the next period, and so on until a 24-hour forecast is obtained.
